Copper has been used for cooking since around 4000 BC, and there are several reasons why it’s popularity has withstood the test of time. It’s the best conductor of heat, especially for top-of-the-range cooking where the food must be cooked at precisely controlled temperatures. This is one reason many of the world’s professional chefs prefer to use copper pots and pans.

Because copper is extremely responsive to temperature changes, it heats up and cools down immediately as you turn the stove dial. It has long been known as one of the best metals to use for making cookware because of it’s high heat conductivity which guarantees that your copper kitchenware will heat evenly all over, without any hot spots.

Copper cookware is lined with another metal, usually tin or steel, to prevent harmful reactions with food, and is easy to clean and maintain. Just hand wash with warm soapy water immediately after use and then dry completely to prevent spots from forming.

It’s beautiful to look at and you can proudly exhibit your copper cookware set in your kitchen. Hang your set from a matching copper pot rack for a truly stunning display.

So although the initial expense might be higher than what you may have been planning on spending, a good quality set will stand up to the daily workout in any kitchen and will last for many years. When you combine its durability with its ability to cook food faster and at an even temperature, copper is the smart and beautiful choice for your kitchen.

A mixture of alloy, nickel, and iron chromium is what gives stainless steel cookware its various properties. Chromium makes sure that stainless steel does not rust easily and lasts for a long time. The nickel also makes sure that it does not rust easily and also is responsible for the shine. At the bottom of the pot, mostly copper and aluminum are used to help in good heat distribution.

You will find that there is a range of stainless kitchenware available in the market. Some of them will be of a low quality whereas others will be of a high quality. It is always a good idea to use a high quality steel cookware since it will perform much better than a lower quality one.

Stainless steel is quite durable and will last for a long time even after years of use. Since it is smooth, hard and non- porous, it does not crack or gets scratched easily. Cleaning it also quite easy and this is why it can keep looking nice for many years.

But this does not mean that stainless steel does not have any disadvantages. It is not good conductor of heat. This is why you will find that they have a coating of copper or aluminum at the bottom of a steel pot. But even then it will not heat up very fast.

Also, if you want a good quality stainless steel pot, you should be ready to pay good money for it.

Besides this, steel does tend to lose color on the outside. Salt water can also damage it. And if you are allergic to nickel, then make sure not to use it since it does contain some amount of this metal.

Cooking pots play an important part in your cookware set. So, choose them carefully. You need to look at the various pros and cons of buying stainless steel cooking pots and then decide whether it is suitable for your own cooking requirements.
